Health Writer Nancy Deville Interviews James P McMahon About Water

Health writer Nancy Deville interviewed me for an article on healthy drinking water.  Here’s an excerpt from and a link to that article:

‘Our bodies need hydration every day because water is the principal constituent of all body fluids, is essential for proper metabolic functioning, and is necessary to flush toxins. Dehydration is a major cause of accelerated aging. You want to stay hydrated by drinking half of your body weight in ounces of purified water every day.

In times past humans drank water from wells, springs, brooks, and rivers that was rich in minerals and trace minerals.’

In the course of interviewing me, Nancy asked which combination of water purification systems would provide the ultimate level of protection.  I must confess that I am reluctant to suggest one system for everyone but in many, many situations I would have to offer the Urban Defender whole house water filter (with catalytic carbon) followed by the whole house water revitalizer and then my five stage custom reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink.  Though, truth to tell, my preference would still be to drink water with low levels of minerals if the quality of your drinking water source is such that you can do so without risk due to contamination.
