Lead May Be In The Water of Homes Built Before 1989

Lead May Be In The Water of Homes Built Before 1989. This week the City of Denver advised residents of potentially harmful levels of lead in their drinking water. Lead may occur naturally in the land that serves as the source of the water supply or it may be in old pipes and lead solder. The Rocky Mountains that provide the source of Denver’s water certainly is a source of lead. There’s a reason that Leadville, CO has it’s name and this is just up the mountain from Denver. The Rocky Mountains are rich in heavy metals as are other mountain ranges around the U.S. Continue reading

Is there Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, in your drinking water?

A new discovery by scientists at the University of Maryland adds to the issues for people whose drinking water is supplied by rivers. Former studies have shown conclusively that as many as 43 million Americans are drinking water from rivers with cities upstream. The upstream cities discharge treated sewage into those rivers. Though the sewage is treated to digest fecal material and kill bacteria that water is proven to contain numerous unregulated contaminants, including pharmaceuticals such as heart and pain medications, albeit in small amounts. Basically, some portion of any chemical that people consume ends up leaving their body through urine or feces and entering the sewage system. Continue reading

Puronics is unethical and morally corrupt

Puronics is violating my registered trademark – Urban Defender – and has been aware of the infringement since I filed for registration back in 2008. Puronics withdrew their attempt to register a mark for their Defender water conditioner. Though Puronics was made aware of my prior use of the Defender name and withdrew their registration in acknowledgement (at my insistence), they continued to use the name (unbenownst to me), thus infringing on my prior use. Continue reading

How Does Flooding Affect My Well Water?

With much of the East Coast under water due to super storm Sandy some people with private wells will have contaminated well water. If your well casing is covered by flood water then your well may be flooded … and contaminated. The surface water may have entered your well from the casing. Continue reading

Symptoms of Arsenic Poisoning and Removal of Arsenic from Water

Arsenic poisoning is more common than we think. It can occur as a result of drinking water containing arsenic. In one week recently I had calls from three different people all showing symptoms of arsenic poisoning.

One fellow is suffering a loss in mental agility (ie: he’s having trouble focusing and thinking) and has newly developed dark spots on his skin along with warts on his chest – all since moving to a new home with well water.

Two women are suffering from hair loss. One of these says all her female coworkers are experiencing the same thing. They’re on city water that contains arsenic. The other woman feels sick and has been seeing doctors for 8 months with no diagnosis. She’s on well water that contains arsenic. Continue reading

Where is the toxicity that is harming my thyroid coming from?

Reduce toxicity and revive your thyroid so that you can start shedding the pounds, be happy and energetic again.

Most thyroid patients (about 90%) suffer from a secondary thyroid disease. This means that it’s not the thyroid that originally (or primarily) failed. The most common reason for the gland to fail (go under- or over-active) is an autoimmune attack; the immune system launches an attack on the thyroid. Modern medicine does not have the answers as to “why is it happening” but the alternative medical world attributes much of it to toxicity. In other words; most people with thyroid conditions have a high toxic load. Continue reading

Well Water Tests Reveal Unsuspected Contaminants

People often resist purchasing a thorough well water test with a remark about the water being good except for a particular issue like high iron. It isn’t always the case but often times a thorough water test will reveal contaminants one never would have suspected. And if no other contaminants show up in test results that’s good too.

Just this week I had two such examples.

The first test the well water looks excellent to drink with two exceptions. Continue reading

You Can’t Buy the Right Water Filter Online

You can’t buy the correct water filter online. In order to know which filter is the best for your home you must first look at your local water report and then buy the system that removes the contaminants in your water.

I don’t know how anyone buys the right water purification system online. You simply can’t do it or if you do buy the right one you just got lucky. There are just too many factors to take into account. Of course most people just think what they want: a whole house water filter or a kitchen water filter and then shop by price. But you can’t buy either one of those and be sure you got the right one without first knowing what’s in your water. Continue reading

Radon In Well Water – The Most Effective Way to Remove Radon from Well Water

I’ve learned some interesting facts about radon recently. Some scientists suggest that ‘no level of radon is safe’ and this comment is published in EPA’s Citizen’s Guide. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Yet it is invisible and may be present without your knowledge.

Radon is among the most toxic of elements and some scientists suggest that any exposure should be avoided. Here is an excerpt from a recent study:

There is no clearly safe level of exposure to four of the most common environmental toxins in the world, and more should be done to protect the public, researchers argue in a new report.

The toxins in question — lead, radon, tobacco smoke and byproducts of drinking-water disinfection* — are ubiquitous, and there is growing evidence that even low-level exposure can have health consequences, according to the report, published in the medical journal PloS Medicine.

‘Emerging evidence indicates that exposures must be virtually eliminated to protect human health,’ conclude Dr. Donald Wigle, of the University of Ottawa in Canada, and Dr. Bruce Lanphear, of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio.

The problem, Wigle told Reuters Health, is that there are no known safe levels of exposure to these toxins, yet people are persistently in contact with them.

‘These are widespread exposures,’ he said. ‘They’re not rare.’

Most people associate radon with basements, but if you have well water it is possible to have radon in your water. The danger from waterborne radon is inhaling it in the shower or while standing at your kitchen sink. Continue reading

SpringHouse by EcoQuest – repair issues

I sell air purifiers by Vollara, the company that bought out EcoQuest International when it went bankrupt. At one time I was the top seller of the SpringHouse whole house water purification system, a product I like and fuly believe in. Long before EcoQuest sold to Vollara and SpringHouse was dropped from the product mix, it became quite evident that the company had lost interest in the product.  In 2005 I designed my own whole house water purification system that is more effective, costs less, and costs less to maintain.  Continue reading
